🌈 Universal Kids Resort Is Coming — And It’s Basically Every Kid’s Dreamland
Seven new lands, tiny-traveler-friendly everything, and a whole lot of “I wanna go!” energy.
Okay, families — Universal just announced full details for their all-new Universal Kids Resort in Texas, opening in 2026… and let me tell you… this place was built to make little ones feel like the main character.
Think: attractions designed at kid height, meet-and-greets everywhere, bright colors, interactive play zones, and seven (!!) themed lands based on the characters kids actually watch at home. If your kiddos love Shrek, Minions, Jurassic World, Trolls, SpongeBob, or Gabby’s Dollhouse… yeah, this is their Super Bowl.
Let’s dive in. ✨
🗺️ The Seven Themed Lands (aka: places your kids will not want to leave)
🦖 Jurassic World Adventure Camp
Adventure? Check. Baby dinosaurs? Check. A coaster to go find Bumpy, the runaway Ankylosaurus? Double check. Families can also tackle Mr. DNA’s Double Helix Spin and take in views from the Pteranodrop.
And yes — there’s a Canteen AND a giant play zone. Universal understood the assignment.
🍍 SpongeBob SquarePants: Bikini Bottom
Get ready to bounce through Jellyfish Fields Jamboree, hop on the Barnacle Bus, spin around with water cannons on Bobbing Barrels, and take a driving lesson from Mrs. Puff herself.
Goofy Goober’s is serving sky-high sundaes (expect your toddler to suddenly “need” ice cream), plus meet-and-greets with SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy.
💚 Shrek’s Swamp
“Do you know the Muffin Man?” Because he might be around.
Shrek & Fiona’s Happily Ogre After is the main attraction — a ride built by Shrek for the triplets, where families relive the story of how Shrek met Fiona.
There are TWO play areas (stomping and splashing encouraged), snacks at Swamp Snacks, and matching ogre-themed outfits at Triplets Treasures.
💛 Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club
If your family loves chaos (the fun kind), welcome home.
This whole land is a giant Minion-style water battle — yes, water blasters included.
You’ve got:
-
Bello Bay Cruise
-
Bello Bay Golf Cart Derby
-
A dedicated Minion-themed snack stop
-
Meet-and-greets with your favorite yellow and purple troublemakers
Prepare to get wet.
🎤 TrollsFest
Bright colors. Good vibes. Lots of glitter. Need I say more?
Kids can:
-
Dance at King Trollex Techno Dance Party
-
Ride Rhonda’s TrollsFest Express
-
Spin high above the land on Hair in the Clouds
-
Get a full Trolls makeover at Troll-ify Me!
And yes — Poppy and Branch will be around for hugs.
🐱 Puss in Boots: Del Mar
Small heroes, big fun.
There’s a swinging aerial ride (Swings Over Del Mar), silly puppet shows, themed eats, candy shops, and meet-and-greets with Puss in Boots, Mama Luna, Perrito, and friends.
Plus, multiple sensory gardens for kids who need a moment to reset.
🌟 Isle of Curiosity
This is the heart of the park — the welcome hub for all things imaginative.
Highlights include:
-
Gabby’s Cat-Tastic Dance Party!
-
Cakey’s Cupcakes (rainbow cupcakes… say no more)
-
A full Resort Café
-
And the massive flagship Universal Kids Resort Store
Basically: snacks, merch, and dancing. Kids’ paradise.
🏨 Universal Kids Resort Hotel
And because Universal said “let’s just make this easy for parents,” the onsite hotel is designed specifically for families.
Room details include:
-
Sleeps 5 to 6 guests
-
Queen + twin-over-full bunk beds
-
Family suites with a king bedroom + living area
-
Game room, pool, fitness center, and Curiosity Café for all-day eating
This is one of the rare family-focused resorts where you don’t have to play “Tetris: hotel room edition.”
👀 My Take as Your Travel Bestie
Universal is doing something really smart here. This isn’t just “a smaller Universal park.” This is a full theme park designed around the way young kids play, move, explore, and imagine.
It’s bright, it’s friendly, it’s immersive, and every single area looks like it was made with ages 3–9 in mind.
If you have littles who love character meet-and-greets more than thrill rides, this might end up being your family’s favorite Universal experience.
